There are several RBs that always go in the first round and rarely put in a full season. If you are going to target one of these RBs you need to be aware of their propensity to get injured and plan accordingly.
Christian McCaffrey: McCaffrey has only played in 10 games over the last two seasons. He is a boom or bust player. He will go in the top 3-4 in most drafts this season. The last season he played the complete season he single handedly won a lot of owners their fantasy championship. This is the quandary people who have a chance to draft McCaffrey will be faced with.
Dalvin Cook: Cook has run for over 1000 yards three consecutive seasons. Unfortunately for his fantasy owners he has never played a complete season. Last season he played in 13 games and the two previous seasons he played in 14 games. Last season he was only a top 20 RB, since he only scored 6 TDs. The two previous seasons he scored closer to his draft position. His injury history needs to be considered when you draft him.
Joe Mixon: MIxon is entering his sixth season and has only completed a full season twice in his first five seasons. Last year, when he played a full season he flashed his potential by running for 1205 yards and 13 TDs. Both of those totals were career highs. He has rushed for 33 TDs in his career, so the 13 last year represents almost half of his career total. People that have the opportunity to draft MIxon will need to decide if the 13 TDs last season was an aberration or it was the first season of many where he eclipses 10 TDs.
Aaron Jones: In five seasons, Jones has only played a full season one time. He has only ran for over 1000 yards twice and eclipsed 10 TDs once. He could see an increase in production this season with the loss of Adams at WR, but I have my doubts that he can stay healthy.
Alvin Kamara: Kamara played in every game in his rookie season of 2017. He has not managed to stay healthy for every game since that rookie campaign. He has never eclipsed 1000 yards. Having said that, he has averaged over 70 receptions a season over his first 5 seasons. In a PPR scoring system, Kamara is a stud.
Saquon Barkley: Barkley has not completed a full season since his rookie year in 2018. It normally takes a couple seasons for a player to recover from the knee injury he suffered in 2020. If you buy into that theory, and he comes close to the numbers he posted in his rookie season he will be a steal. His rookie season he ran for 1300 YDs and 11 TDs. He added 91 receptions that same season.
D’Andre Swift: Swift is entering his third season and only played in thirteen games each of his first two seasons. His career high rushing yards is 617 yards. His career high rushing TDs is eight. Swift really only has value in a PPR scoring system. He has averaged 54 receptions over his first two seasons and scored two receiving TDs in each season.
